Murano Due Italian Lighting

The Murano Due designer lighting collection plays with the nuances of traditional Murano glassmaking combined with today’s techniques and innovation to honor the history of the craft and reinterpret these traditions in contemporary lighting designs.

Murano Glass is the traditional art form of the Venetian island of Murano. Murano glassmakers use only the best materials (including accents of 99.9% pure 24 carat gold and silver). In the traditional blowing process, a piece of Murano glass develops a distinct pattern of imperfections—waves and bubbles—that can never be replicated in another piece. Murano Due lights, which incorporate these pieces, are therefore truly unique works of art.

Murano Due combines this classic material with an unmistakably modern sensibility. A floor lamp modeled after a dressmaker’s mannequin adds a sensual accent to the contemporary interior. Murano Due's designer ceiling fixtures delicately covered in transparent colored fabric provide perfect lighting in a subtle but striking way. A playful pendant light sporting a round steel canopy with delicate hanging glass bubbles adds a stylish touch to a kitchen space. Other standouts of the collection include the Moody light, in which twelve long bulbs of Murano glass project out from a sphere of chrome, and the Charlie, which features a skirt of fine strings of clear Murano glass.

Murano Due is featured as part of the FDV Collection of designer Murano lighting. The FDV Collection selects outstanding pieces from boutique lighting studios in Italy based on individual style and quality of its traditional Murano elements. This aesthetic, combined with contemporary technology, is what sets the FDV collection apart.

This same emphasis on local Italian craftsmanship ensures that Murano Due is a highly flexible collection; because each piece is individually handmade, Nella Vetrina can offer these lights with a variety of custom sizes, colors, materials, and finishes.
